As a proud resident of Aurora for the past 23 years, and a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force for over 20 years, I have had the opportunity to watch our community grow, evolve, and become more reflective of a diverse population. Over that time, I have come to appreciate the kind of leadership it takes to guide a town like ours—not just in words, but in action.
What stands out most about Tom Mrakas is his ability to deliver tangible results. In a time when many speak in promises, he consistently makes the tough decisions required to protect taxpayers and move important initiatives forward.

The results are visible all around us — from improved parks and trails to investments in recreation and community spaces, and the continued revitalization of our downtown and Town Square.
What I personally value most is Tom’s accessibility and presence. Leadership is not confined to council chambers — he has embraced the art of communication in today’s digital world while continuing to prioritize in-person connections at community events whenever possible. That balance is not easy to achieve, but it is exactly what strong leadership looks like. That level of engagement builds and earns trust — and trust is everything in public service.
Beyond our town boundaries, Tom Mrakas has proven to be a strong voice for Aurora, advocating with conviction at the Regional, Provincial, and Federal levels, always with the best interests of residents at heart.
