Exchange Update

We’ve now received confirmation from Circular Materials outlining the next steps and timeline for the recycling cart exchange for residents who have requested the smaller one.

On January 30, 2026, Circular Materials will follow up, by email (Check your JUNK mail), with residents who submitted a request form to confirm whether they still wish to proceed with the exchange. This step is important as both Circular Materials and GFL have received calls from residents over the past few weeks indicating that some have changed their mind regarding their request for a smaller cart following the opportunity to use the 360-litre cart over the past few weeks.

Residents will be asked to provide confirmation by February 13, 2026, and we will send reminder emails during this two-week period to those who have not responded. Please note, confirmations received after the February 13 intake deadline, as well as any new requests for a smaller 240-litre cart, will be processed at a later date.

Following the resident’s confirmation, Circular Materials will follow up to provide further instructions and next steps for the recycling cart exchange. The exchange will begin the first week of March and will roll out across the N6 communities over approximately six weeks. While most exchanges are expected to occur in early March, this timeframe allows for follow-up on any missed exchanges (e.g., if 360-litre carts were not placed correctly at the curb for exchange).

*We are still awaiting details regarding residents who have requested a second recycling bin. As soon as Circular Materials provides an update, we will be sure to let residents know.*

  1. Just confirming we would like to exchange to the smaller size blue bin at 105 Carlyle Crescent in Aurora, Ont. I am sending this email as I did request the exchange at an earlier date but did not receive an email indicating such on January 30, 2026

  2. This is great news, but still doesn’t address what to do with cardboard that doesn’t fit in the bins. Previously we could bundle the cardboard neatly for pickup with the bins. With bi-weekly pickup there isn’t much room for extra cardboard from deliveries or larger packed items.

  3. Mr Mayor:
I know that the recycling program is outside the towns juristriction but I feel it necessary to speak up.
The changes to the recycling bins that have been brought upon us are rediculous. There was nothing wrong with what we had. I have yet to speak with anyone who finds these new bins convenient. We don’t have anywhere to store them.
If the replacement 65 gallon bin does not fit in my garage without interfering with my cars I will not use it. I will not have it sitting out front of my house causing an eyesore.

  4. I thought we were asked to use for short period prio to asking for change.
What is the link to request smaller bin

  6. I had confirmed I wanted the smaller bin. Everyone on my street Sandlewood Court, received theirs except myself and one other person. We were told to still leave the bin out as the exchanges were behind until the 27th of March. Guess what-no new bin. A little frustrated to say the least.
