FCM 2025

Over the last few days, I was in Ottawa for #FCM2025AC — the annual conference of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. This year’s theme, Stronger Together, couldn’t be more fitting. It reflects the strength that comes from collaboration — among mayors, councillors, and federal partners — as we work together to tackle the shared challenges facing our communities.

Aurora and York Region are growing rapidly. And with that growth comes the need for smart planning, sustainable infrastructure, and strong, responsive local leadership.

From combating misinformation and disinformation, to zoning reform, unlocking housing supply, securing long-term infrastructure funding, and streamlining services without sacrificing quality — every session reinforced the priorities we’re already working on in Aurora.

As always, it was a great opportunity to connect with municipal leaders from across the country, exchange ideas, and bring home practical insights that can help strengthen our community. Aurora may be one town, but we’re part of a national network of municipalities — and we’re truly stronger when we work together.

Our challenges are evolving. But with collaboration, planning, and bold leadership, we’re ready to meet the moment.

Because we truly are Stronger Together. #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
