FCM

This past week, I was joined by fellow members of York Region as well as Aurora Town Councillors in Calgary for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) conference. Attending this event allowed us to learn, collaborate, and engage with fellow elected officials from across the country.
During the conference, we participated in numerous workshops and sessions that covered topics crucial to our community, such as sustainable urban development, affordable housing strategies, innovative infrastructure solutions, and revitalizing downtown areas. These sessions provided us with fresh insights and practical approaches that we can use in our community.
We met with many Mayors and Councillors during the conference, sharing experiences and best practices that allowed us to identify new strategies to address common challenges. These conversations reinforced the importance of working together between municipalities and highlighted the potential for joint initiatives that can benefit our communities.
The FCM conference is crucial because it allows us to advocate for our town’s priorities and discuss the need for continued federal support in key areas like infrastructure funding and affordable housing. Establishing these connections is essential for ensuring that our community’s voice is heard at the national level. The knowledge gained, the connections made, and the collaborative spirit fostered at the conference will undoubtedly help us in our mission to build a better future for all our residents. #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
