Last night Council met in General Committee, and had some discussion around the application for the renovation and expansion of Our Lady of Grace (OLG) Church on Yonge Street. Council in the majority were very excited and happy to see that another fixture of our downtown will be renovated and thus be here to serve our community moving forward. The plans for renovation and expansion of OLG went to both the Heritage Advisory Committee and the Accessibility Advisory Committee for comments and suggestions. The Church did a wonderful job taking the concerns and suggestions of both committees and incorporating them into the plans. As I said last night, it is clear that a great deal of work has been done by the church and the congregation to bring forward a design that not only fits the needs of the Church but will continue to make the church a focal point of our downtown core; which is vitally important as we continue to move forward with the rejuvenation of the downtown. The recommendation to approve the permit application was passed unanimously. #GettingThingsDone #LeadershipThatWorks
