Town’s Service Delivery Review

This week at General Committee, we had a few important reports before Council; however, for this week’s update I will focus on one in particular – our Town’s Service Delivery Review (SDR). When we asked for this review to take place it was with the understanding that we as “Council and the residents would get a look at the needs and expectations of the community, the performance and costs of the services provided and result in key recommendations on industry best practices and approaches to improved service delivery”. As a result of the SDR,  the Town and Council is better informed to continue to provide the same or better services to our residents in a fiscally responsible way…

So what were the key findings overall for the Town??

  1. The Town is in a strong financial position when assessed against 65 financial indicators
  2. The majority of Town services are being performed at/above standard
  3. The Town is actively investing in continuous improvement and has a strong culture with dedicated staff committed to ensuring service delivery excellence to citizens

I am proud of the commitment this Council and staff have made to ensure that our Town is well positioned Financially and operationally. And this SDR demonstrates that the decisions that this Council has made over the course of our term have done exactly that.

Now while we are well positioned, that does not mean that we can just rest and put our feet up. We as a Town need to continually look for ways to provide better services, and reducing costs…. And the SDR provides us with opportunities for more savings and more efficiencies. These productivity and efficiency opportunities could result in net savings for the Town of just shy of $1 million while continuing to provide the high level of services our residents and businesses expect.

So I am looking forward to Council continuing to work together and get things done for our Town not only for the present, but for our future … Here is the entire SDR below…
