Golf Links – Planned Power Outage

I have heard from many residents with concerns surrounding a planned emergency outage for this Saturday, February 6th on Golf Links Drive. I reached out to Alectra for clarification as to why this planned outage is needed and also asked what can be done to reschedule this perhaps for a time when the warmer weather arrives. I wanted to update everyone with the response that I have received from Alectra.

“The outage is to facilitate emergency repairs, as a switch gear requires replacement along with cable replacement. The equipment is functioning presently but could fail at any time. If you recall, this area has been experiencing increased outages and interruptions since last spring. The decision was made by Alectra to schedule the emergency repair work for Saturday, as many people working from home and students doing online learning would be less impacted on a weekend by this work. Alectra recognizes that an 8 hour power interruption is inconvenient during this time of year, however should the equipment fail it will take considerably longer to make repairs on an emergency basis. This situation can not wait until the warmer weather comes, and needs to be replaced now in order for these residents to have more reliable electricity service going forward.”

If you have any additional questions please email me at [email protected] or if you require any assistance over the weekend please call Alectra’s customer service main number: 1-877-963-6900
