Hoedown 2018

I have been volunteering at the Hoedown for over 10 years!! And it has been a fantastic experience to be a part of the greatest tent party in North America!! The Magna Hoedown has raised literally millions of dollars over the past 30 years to support so many local charities and community groups. It has truly been an honour to be a part of it for the past decade.

Unfortunately, this year I will be stepping away from my duties as waste/recycling lead volunteer (sorry Brian North, you’re on your own this year!). As it is an election year, and I am a candidate for Mayor, I feel that it is best to step back from volunteering. The Hoedown is about the community, the charities and helping our fellow residents. I don’t believe campaigning or even the potential perception of campaigning at the event is appropriate…And no one running for Municipal office should use this great event for that purpose. That is why I will be retiring the big yellow hat for this year… But not to worry I will be back to volunteer next year because once you volunteer for the Hoedown and see all the wonderful things that happen in our community because of this great event, you will always be back to help!!
So while I will not be there volunteering I will be at the Hoedown enjoying the festivities with everyone else! So if you see me at the Hoedown please say “Hi” and lets all remember that our residents, our community and our charities all benefit from the Hoedown!! “This is why we Hoedown!!”
