Interesting letter I received from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing today. I can’t help but question, after reading this, is this a case of the government looking for methods to “streamline the process” and “cut red tape” or facilitate an “anything goes approach” to development. I hope that is the former and not the latter! The Town of Aurora was at the forefront of the fight for meaningful change to land use planning legislation in Ontario – and we were successful. Regardless of the intention of the proposed changes to the Planning Act, I will work to ensure that our Town’s hard fought gains are not lost; that any changes to the Planning Act that the Province looks at making will not negatively impact our municipality’s right to plan growth on our own terms. #GettingThingsDone
