Mapping Recreation for Persons with Disabilities Plan

Last night at Council, we talked about the recommendations outlined in the Mapping Recreation for Persons with Disabilities Plan for 2024-2029. This plan was developed with help from the community, including our Accessibility Advisory Committee. It aims to improve accessibility, inclusivity, and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in our town.

Council has approved the recommendations (pending ratification at a future meeting). These recommendations will guide future investments in adaptive sports, facility upgrades, and new programs, so that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy and take part in recreational activities in Aurora.

This is an important step towards making our town more inclusive. I am looking forward to working with our community partners to bring these changes to life and create a more supportive environment for all.
