New Directional Road Signage

Staff and I, along with the Region, have been working towards improved directional road signage, installed at certain locations around the perimeter of the Town for the purposes of diverting through-traffic, away from the Yonge and Wellington intersection. A number of these new signs are already up.
I think we can all agree that traffic issues are an ongoing struggle and will only get worse as our community and the communities around us continue to grow. Solving these issues is not a quick fix. Improved and additional signage is just one piece of the puzzle that will help educate and train drivers to seek better routes to get to the GO station or the 404; to use St. John’s and industrial parkway to pass through Town to get to these destinations instead of driving to the Yonge and Wellington intersection. And in doing so, lessen the impact of traffic on the bottleneck at our main intersection.

Here is the new sign at Yonge and St. John’s on the north side directing traffic traveling southbound.

  1. Widen Industrial to 3 or 4 lanes No left turns at wellington/yonge during rush hour buses excepted

    1. The Left turn restrictions have been put in place as a pilot for 2 months. I have been advocating that Industrial Parkway be widen since the beginning of this term.. The Region and the province will have to help with the funding as we are looking at 35 million to widen it from end to end
