“Olde Town” Arvada

On Monday June 10th, Mayor Lovatt and I met with Mayor Lauren Simpson from Arvada, Colorado. Mayor Simpson spent the day showing us around Arvada, focusing on the revitalization of “Olde Town” Arvada, which has become a popular visitor attraction. The Mayor emphasized the importance of gathering areas, events and the creation of walkable areas in their revitalization efforts and highlighted the collaboration with the Arvada EcDev and the Urban Renewal Authority.
“Olde Town” Arvada is a unique blend of arts and culture, featuring a town square, a library, and various surrounding businesses (restaurants, bars, and unique shops). By working with their Urban Renewal Authority, they transformed unused buildings into thriving properties while ensuring that the heritage was protected and that new developments complemented the historic look and feel of Olde Town.
I want to thank Mayor Simpson for taking the time to show us around her beautiful city and sharing the great things they have accomplished. I am looking forward to bringing some of the knowledge gained back to Aurora as we continue the revitalization of our downtown as I believe Aurora is on the right track to become a unique destination just as “Olde Town” has done. More to come on this very insightful visit…. #Leadershipthatlearns #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
