Slabtown Armoury

I’m incredibly excited to share that the Town of Aurora has officially signed a lease agreement with Slabtown Cider Company — a fantastic, locally rooted cidery and culinary operator out of Uxbridge — to bring new energy, year-round programming, and fresh opportunities to the Aurora Armoury, starting this October.

Under this new partnership, the space will operate as Slabtown Armoury — and it’s going to be a game-changer for our downtown.

This agreement builds on the Armoury’s legacy as a place for gathering and celebration, while also supporting local jobs, strengthening downtown businesses, and advancing the Town’s broader revitalization goals.

The Armoury is one of our community’s most iconic and historic spaces. Now, it’s about to come alive with people, music, food, community events, and activity all year long. This is exactly the kind of creative, community-driven initiative we want to see in Aurora — one that supports local, builds connections, and brings vibrancy to our downtown core.

And the benefits don’t stop there.

Slabtown Armoury is expected to create more than 25 new jobs, with a strong focus on hiring locally from Aurora and the surrounding area. They’ll be sourcing ingredients from local farms and producers, helping support our small businesses and strengthening our regional economy.

Best of all, this agreement ensures a flexible weekly schedule that balances public access, community use, and private event activity — while also generating ongoing revenue for the Town. A true win-win.

I’m proud of this milestone and what it means for our community. A big thank you to the members of Council who voted in favour of this agreement.

This is about building a stronger, more vibrant Aurora — and this is just the beginning. #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
