Supporting Our Heritage in Aurora

This week at Committee of the Whole, Council approved the Heritage Grant Program—a new initiative aimed at supporting the conservation and restoration of designated heritage properties across our community.

This program was developed in response to a motion passed by Council in 2024, and it’s designed to help heritage property owners maintain the unique character and cultural value of their buildings. With funding support available in three categories—up to $10,000 for major works—it provides meaningful assistance while preserving what makes Aurora special.

The program has been carefully crafted in consultation with the Heritage Advisory Committee and includes exciting features like potential partnerships with local suppliers to further support those undertaking conservation efforts.

The report has passed Committee and will come to Council for final ratification.

This is a big step forward in ensuring our rich history continues to be celebrated, protected, and sustained for generations to come. #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
