Town Square – An Aurora Success Story!

They say that in life, timing is everything.  And looking back it’s clear, when it comes to our decision to move forward with Town Square, a once in a generation community building initiative, we made the right decision at the right time. Given the current fiscal reality, had we delayed, costs would have been 27% to 40% higher due to rising construction expenses. Instead, we delivered Aurora Town Square at $59.7M, ensuring exceptional value for our community. The insured value of $76.7M highlights that this project is worth far more than its cost, proving it was a smart, forward-thinking investment in Aurora’s future.

Thanks to a $5M fundraising campaign, financial impacts were kept low, with only $2.7M above the original budget, with funds coming from the Hydro reserves that ensured there are no tax implications. Despite challenges like supply shortages and labor strikes, strong oversight and planning allowed us to stay on track and deliver a world-class community space. This was not just an infrastructure project—it was a bold investment in arts, culture, and connection that will serve our residents for generations to come.

Aurora Town Square is now a vibrant cultural hub where people can gather, create, and celebrate.

The numbers prove it—we built this community landmark at the right time, and we did it right. A huge thank you to our residents, partners, and supporters who helped make this vision a reality! #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
