Aurora has consistently remained one of the safest communities in York Region – 3rd lowest of 9 municipalities. And that’s something we should be incredibly proud of. The chart above (reproduced from the York Regional Police Annual Statistics Report) shows only Markham and Stouffville have a lower crime rate than Aurora.
Is there room to improve? Absolutely! That’s why we’ve add another dedicated patrol car for Aurora to increase visibility and response times.
I look forward to continuing work with our new Chief (an Auroran) to build on this strong foundation. We have one of the best police services in North America because of the dedication of the men and women in uniform. Together, we will keep pushing forward to make Aurora a community where people feel safe to live, work, and raise a family.
