Housing Pledge Approved

I have officially shared Aurora’s housing pledge with the Province, as per their request, by submitting it to Minister Paul Calandra and the Ontario government following this week’s Council meeting. The Town of Aurora’s municipal Housing Pledge received approval from Council with a vote of 4-3 this week.

I would like to thank Council for voting in favour of our Housing Pledge. Our Housing Pledge reaffirms the commitment letter I sent as Head of Council to the Minister two weeks ago that Aurora is committed to do our part to help address the housing crisis and outlines the concrete steps we are taking as a municipality to help ensure housing is affordable and attainable to all those who want to live in our great town.

As I said before, Aurora’s ability to meet our housing targets does not necessitate excessive or unplanned development within our Town. We are committed to responsible growth that aligns with the vision outlined in our Official Plan.

While we focus on building more housing quickly, we must also make sure to prioritize infrastructure projects. It’s important that our Town have the right infrastructure in place to support the expected growth.

I’m excited to work with all of Council to achieve real results for our community. Together, we can tackle the housing challenges and create a bright future for Aurora. #LeadershipThatGetsThingsDone
