Municipal Summit – Opening Remarks

Tom Mrakas

Wow what a remarkable event! The Municipal Summit on OMB Reform was truly unique. Elected officials from every part of the Province gathered together to discuss the much needed reform of the OMB. This bottom up approach to change, provided an opportunity for everyone present to engage in an open and honest dialogue and, as a consequence, gain some consensus in identifying core principles for reform. These core principles will form the basis for recommendations that will inform the Provincial OMB reform process and bring about much needed, meaningful change to Ontario’s land-use planning system.

I would like to take a moment and thank the Working Group for their hard work. Each and everyone one of these elected officials stepped up and worked hard to bring this all together and I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with each and everyone one of them. It is amazing what can be accomplished in a short period of time when everyone is working together to get things done.

Here are my opening remarks …..
