York Region 2020 Budget

Not only is it Budget time for the Town but for York Region as well, and the budget is being discussed at Regional Council this month.

When looking at the 2020 proposed budget, the $3.3 billion budget is made up of $2.5 billion in operating spending and an $826-million capital component. The Regional budget proposes a tax levy increase of 2.96% for 2020, this meets the budget target that Regional Council set during the 2019  budget and the four-year outlook.

While the budget does meet the approved target set by Council. I will continue to work to ensure that duplication is eliminated so that savings and efficiencies can be realized… We need to always strive to provide the services our residents need in as cost effective a manner as possible; making sure there’s value for the taxpayer’s dollar. And that is exactly what I will do.

The proposed 2020 budget will be discussed at the upcoming Committee of the Whole meetings on December 5 and 12. And the Budget is scheduled to be presented to Council for approval on December 19.
