For many many years, residents and council have considered different strategies to fix traffic flow and improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Yonge and Wellington. I am very pleased then to inform residents that, starting the first week of June, construction will commence of the addition of a dedicated southbound right turn lane at the intersection with a goal towards achieving just that – better, safer intersection. Not only will the new right turn lane be installed, but the construction will also see the replacement of traffic signals, sidewalk bays and sections of curb, roadway repaving and the reinstatement of intersection features including the Town’s rainbow crosswalk. This intersection has been a topic of debate for a long time; It is expected that with these initial improvements in place we will take important steps towards creating better traffic flow at this intersection. #GettingThingsDone
